The distance from the floor to the top rail. OSHA standard is 42".

This is the total width of your opening.
This dimension will include the gate support posts, so add 20" if you have your required opening size.

This is the height from the floor to the bottom of the gate. Our default recommendation is 8.5".
For large 3-stage gates, the inner-most stage will include casters and have 6.75" clearance.
