When is a ventilated cabinet required?

Ventilated storage is commonly specified when storing items that off-gas, need airflow to dry, or where a facility standard requires visual/air exchange — check your AHJ and safety officer’s requirements. What is the difference between ventilated and clear-view doors?

Ventilated doors use expanded metal or louvered panels for airflow AND visibility; clear-view doors use solid windows for visibility without airflow. Choose ventilated for drying/off-gassing, clear-view for cleaner environments needing contents verification.

Are ventilated cabinets less secure?

No — the frames and locking are the same welded 12-gauge construction as solid-door models. Expanded-metal panels resist cutting and keep contents visible to security patrols, which some facilities consider a security advantage.
