Reaching elevated areas in factories and construction industries is made possible with ladders. They are also used for maintenance services, painting, and landscaping. Using ladders is a daunting task as it can lead to falls and injuries, unless you seriously follow safety measures. Therefore, it is prudent to use the right Personal Protective Equipment.

Before we discuss the mandatory PPE for ladder work, let’s talk about the things to check before every use.

1. Assess the ladder for loose or broken rungs, steps, rails, or bracing.
2. Look for any loose screws, bolts, hinges, or other hardware too. In case any issues are noticed in the ladder, get it fixed or replaced at once.
3. Never use a faulty ladder.
4. Close or lock the neighboring ingress or egress points within the ladder. There should be no debris or obstructions in the space surrounding the ladder base.
